Researchers find the immune system's unknown messenger

A previously unknown messenger which alarms nearby cells when the immune system recognises a bacterial or viral infection has been uncovered. Immunologists from Aarhus University are behind the discovery, which will help fighting infections and autoimmune diseases.

Places on the new nursing track in great demand

Places on Aarhus University’s new APN track – which offers nurses an education in advanced clinical nursing – are in great demand. The 147 applications demonstrate the need for professional development at a time when the healthcare sector is undergoing major changes, says the vice-dean.

The drugs statins, which are used to prevent cardiovascular diseases, also guard against brain haemorrhages. This is the conclusion from a new Danish study, the most extensive ever, which thus also rebuffs suspicions of the opposite being true.

Possible overlap between symptoms before and after the HPV vaccination

A new study from Aarhus University shows that girls who are referred to one of Denmark’s HPV centres had already visited the hospital more frequently when compared to other girls who were also HPV vaccinated. Furthermore, some of the most frequent diagnoses among the girls who were referred are similar to the most common suspected HPV side effects.
