Contribute your own photos Soon people will be able to upload their personal images directly to DigitalNZ stories. This is an exciting new tool that we've been working on over the first half of 2019 and now have a basic prototype. Opening DigitalNZ up to user-generated content of this kind will be a significant change for the site, and we're keen to get your feedback. If you'd like to take a look at the prototype, or even work with us on early user testing, do get in touch via info@digitalnz.org.
Happy campers We recently ran our annual satisfaction survey on www.digitalnz.org and are pleased to report that the average satisfaction score of respondents was 8.5 out of 10. We're always working on how to improve DigitalNZ and your detailed and thoughtful survey responses help us immeasurably. Missed the survey but have ideas about how we can improve our services? Contact us at info@digitalnz.org. Your metadata out in the world We were excited to find out recently that the NZ Institute of Economic Research have been using the DigitalNZ API for their research. Senior Economist James Horgan queried the API in order to track the language used to discuss housing in Aotearoa across time. Check out his report here which shows fascinating shifts in how housing has been valued and understood. Image: James Horgan, NZIER. Commercial use metadata? You may know that the DigitalNZ API has a commercial use extension, whereby the metadata of five of our content partners is available for use by sites that generate revenue. Perhaps you have considered making your metadata available for commercial use? Do get in touch if you'd like to talk further, as there are exciting possibilities, particularly in the area of useful subscription databases. That's it from us. Any questions, please email info@digitalnz.org. Best wishes from the DigitalNZ team: Rowan, Thomasin, Ting, Dan, Tim, James, and Fi. |
