No Images? Click here Seniors forum next month – palliative careIt sounds cliché, but the year has flown by and it’s practically Christmas! This year we’ve had seniors forums on the topics of travelling in your senior years; healthy minds; elder abuse; and our final forum for the year is coming up in December and is looking at the topic of palliative care. Our expert guest is Professor Maddocks AM – the first Chair of Palliative Care at Flinders University and recognised internationally for his work and research on this topic. Mr Maddocks’ presentation will outline palliative care, its place in end of life care broadly and the interface between the voluntary euthanasia debate and palliative care. Anne Friedman from Southern Adelaide Palliative Services will also present briefly on the Daw Park Palliative Care biographer service, which enables people in palliative care to have their biography written over a period of six sessions – a very therapeutic and special experience for both the client and the biographer. In addition, Shadow Health Minister Stephen Wade will also be in attendance and will speak briefly on the health issues facing our state and he will be available at the end to take your questions. Where: Lighthouse Community Church, Jetty Road, Brighton When: Tuesday 6 December 2016, 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm (afternoon tea is provided) RSVP: Zoe Baker on 8296 9833 or at zoe.baker@parliament.sa.gov.au Attending the forum is free, but there is the option to give a gold coin donation to Surf Life Saving South Australia. Our last collection raised $113.65 for The Repat Foundation. I hope to see you there. David. |
