When a human or another dog disrespects them A dog(s) growl is a warning sound and since they cannot tell you that they do not like something then growling is a way that they communicate. Dog’s have spend a large amount of time learning your body language and sounds so don’t you want to show them that you are willing to learn theirs! Respect and obedience is earned not given! This is a way of nature for many species. I want you to think about that for a minute… Do you respect your dog? Could you do better in the future? language. Can I punish my dog for growling? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! When you punish a dog for growling you are both ruining your bond with your dog and making him or her scared to tell you that they are uncomfortable with a situation. If you keep them from warning then they will no longer warn because they get in trouble, they will just bite instead. I have heard people say that a dog bit out of nowhere but that in not really true. If a dog does not warn you then they have most likely been punished for growling. Also,
they will usually become really still before they bite in that type of situation. There is so much to a dogs body language that if I were try to write it all in this article you would be reading forever! The dog body language and vocalizations include many sounds and all body parts. All dog language is intertwined and can be complicated to read. What should I do if my dog growls? Staying calm and collected is the best thing you can do for the mental stability of the dog. Immediately remove your dog from the situation
