Kickstart the new year

We'd love your support to make 2018 a real success
This year marks a very important birthday – the NHS turns 70! As one of the nation’s most-loved institutions, we know how many of you appreciate the vital role the service plays in your life. The National Brain Appeal is here to support the excellent work at The National Hospital, and to help provide above and beyond what NHS budgets can fund in Queen Square.

Join forces with us this year and you can make a difference to the lives of the one in six affected by a neurological disorder. There are so many ways you can support us – read on and we'll fill you in.

Pick up the pace

Have you made a new year's resolution to get fit? Well, if you're donning your trainers and Lycra, why not do it for a good cause?

Whatever you fancy, we have it - from walks and treks to 5ks and marathons, from bike rides and extreme races to skydives!

Ultimate Ultra Challenge 2018: A year-long virtual event
All you need is a pair of walking or running shoes, a 'strava' account (an exercise-tracking app) - and the ambition to push yourself further. You get medals for 1,000, 1,500, and 2,000km, and best of all, you can take all year to rack up the miles!

Superhero Run: 13 May, Regent's Park
The ultimate family fundraiser. This day is all about the ‘taking part’ not the ‘winning’ so you can run, jog or walk – whatever works for you. There are free costumes for every participant – an extra bonus!

Vitality 10,000: 28 May, Central London
Formally known as the BUPA 10,000, this race starts and finishes in The Mall and follows a clockwise route around the City of Westminster and the City of London.

Prudential Ride London: 29 July, London & Surrey
Ride London is our most popular cycling event − an amazing 100-mile event starting in Stratford, heading out into greenbelt Surrey and then back into central London for a thrilling finish.

Royal Parks Half Marathon: 14 October, London
This is a hugely popular London race due to the beautiful scenery and the opportunity to run past the city’s most important landmarks. Places go quickly for this one, so apply soon.

Get inspired by our complete list of all challenges for 2018.

Design your own event

We know doing a sporty challenge isn't everyone's cup of tea – and isn't always physically possible. That's why you can get involved in many other ways too – why not design your own event or challenge, such as a bake sale, a sponsored silence, a quiz night – or throw a party and ask people for donations for entry and drinks!

We also have a number of organised fundraising events throughout the year. Or, we are always looking for people willing to  volunteer a few hours of their time to help us out. Get in touch for more information.

Exciting news!

In the spirit of a fresh start for the new year, we've been extremely busy beavering away on our new-look charity website.

Our aim is to make the site easier to navigate, simpler to use if you're making a donation, showcase all our events and challenges, and share inspiring stories about our supporters and patients from The National Hospital. We're also keen to show the impact of the money you raise and how it helps those affected by neuro conditions.

We'll share the link to our bright, shiny new website as soon as it launches... so watch this space!
