Enough happiness to keep you sweet,

Enough trials to keep you strong,

Enough sorrow to keep you human,

Enough hope to keep you happy,

Enough failure to keep you humble,

Enough success to keep you eager,

Enough friends to give you comfort,

Enough wealth to meet your needs,

Enough enthusiasm to look forward,

Enough faith to banish depression,

Enough determination to make each

day better than yesterday.

TERM 3 WEEK 1   JULY 18, 2018

OUR LADY OF GRACE NEWSLETTER

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

I extend a very warm welcome to new staff and families joining the OLG School Community this term. Mrs Henery is replacing Ms Trinder for this term and will replace Mrs Harmer in Term Four, while Mrs Gerber has taken on Mrs Vaglievllo’s Year Six role for this term.

We welcome the Hollick and Nathan families and their children Zed (5W) and Paige (3G), respectively, and welcome back the Naismith family (William (6G), James (4G) and Thomas (3B).

Student Ministries

Yesterday the Year Six students gathered to choose their preferred Ministries for this second semester and then to elect the leader of their groups.

I congratulate the new leaders of our Student Ministries and wish them well for the semester ahead. They are:

Spiritual Ministry                  Oliver Walsh, Charlette Croxford

Social                                   Ashleigh Meyers, Sophie Favazzi

Environmental                     Jack Carr, Ella Carter

IT                                           Ethan Lloyd, Monty Godderidge

Sport                                     William Naismith, Lucas Bendotti

Communication                 Paige Hince, Bailey Allen

School Fees

Unless families are on a “Payment Plan” it is hoped that they will finalise the payment of this year’s fees by the end of this term. Getting this matter dealt with before the pressures of Christmas also seems a good idea.

Disabled Parking

While we await City of Stirling approval and the installation of appropriate signage, I ask all OLG families to treat the first car bay down from the gate on the southern side of the school as “Disabled Parking Only”.

This is the bay immediately adjacent the yellow strip No Parking bay.

Your support and compliance will be greatly appreciated by those in our community who are less physically able to walk.

School parking

Unlawful parking in school areas is a major safety hazard that poses a risk to children, pedestrians, and other road users.

It is an offence to stop or park a vehicle:

• in No Stopping or No Parking areas

• so that it obstructs a footpath

• on a verge without the owner’s consent

• facing the wrong way

• so that it is double parked

• within 3 metres of a continuous dividing line or median strip

• within 10 metres of an intersection/corner (without traffic control signals)

• in a manner that blocks a driveway

• on a median strip or traffic island

• so that any portion is within a bus zone

Please be aware that infringements may be issued for these offences.

How can parents help?

• Walk or cycle to school when dropping off or collecting children

• Park nearby and walk a short distance to the school

• Plan your trip so you arrive on the school side of the road

• Avoid leaving your vehicle for long periods

• Adhere to signage at all times

• Form a School Road Safety committee (contact the school principal and/or the Parents and Citizens Association)

• Use public transport

• Slow down around schools and be aware.

God bless

Chris Kenworthy

Principal

IMPORTANT NOTICE - Please read

There are an increasing number of online orders that are not being captured due to parents not confirming their orders. Once you have placed an order please check your confirmation email or your "active orders" section to ensure your order has been placed, as we are getting numerous children at canteen quite upset that they haven't received their lunches.

Canteen News:

Please note Sushi is now $4.50 due to supplier price increase.    We will monitor the levels of the sushi for the rest of the term and try and work on a solution so no one misses out.  Apologies to those who do sometimes miss out.

Vanilla and Lime Juice Bombs are unavailable.  We have been advised that this flavour is currently not being made.  We will advise once available.

Fro Yo Frozen Yoghurt - currently being trialled - the flavours are varying week to week so if you do order the item online please continue to order under the strawberry or chocolate flavour and child can pick the flavour when they come to the canteen.  Note this is a Canteen Approved Product.

P & F Acknowledgements

Thank you to everyone in our P & F community for supporting our events and fundraisers in Terms 1 & 2. We have had great feedback, and will continue to work towards improving our events this year to raise valuable funds and make OLG an even better school for our kids.

Special thank you to all our event leaders and volunteers, as we would not be able to create such successful events without your  personal time, effort and commitment.
