Australia's peak industry body for research, data and insights organisations Trust is critical to engagement. Now more than ever. Today's data-driven world and the number of recent high-profile data breaches have seen a growing need to ensure that personal information is always protected. In dealing with the public and with any information entrusted to our care by them or for them, AMSRO members should remember that our industry relies largely on their goodwill. Following an extensive public review process, AMSRO is pleased to release the newly registered and updated Privacy (Market and Social Research) Code 2021 and associated resources (which take effect from Monday 22 March 2021). AMSRO, in conjunction with Professor Peter Leonard, the Independent Code Reviewer and working closely with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), has incorporated several changes in the new Privacy Code to ensure it is fit-for-purpose, relevant and practical for members, engenders confidence for clients and importantly, the Australian public. To coincide with the new Privacy Code's release, AMSRO has produced a Privacy Guideline to further support members in understanding the Code. This new member resource - available below - is exclusive to AMSRO members. See what's changed and download the guideline here. (Restricted access - member log-in required). AMSRO also invites all members to attend a free webinar with Professor Peter Leonard and AMSRO’s Privacy Compliance Committee (PCC) members to learn more about the Privacy Code changes, what they mean for members, and how best to comply.
