Moon Dance & Love ....

I suppose everyone has their symbols. And for most of us, Valentine's Day means big red hearts and floating cupids to best express our love and affection for the special people in our life. But for me, nothing says sincere love better than the image of the moon. I have long had a great romance with the moon and the mysterious manner in which it guides so much of what we do and feel. Its waxing and waning controls moods and energy in ways we don't fully understand--like a great romance. So while this Valentine's Day weekend will be marked with a mere sliver of the first quarter moon hanging overhead, the full white moon or "Lune Blanche" will be on hand as a recommended pairing for one of the plates of our three-course Prix Fixe menu offered over the weekend of February 12 & 13. From the region of Bordeaux best known for the production of the rare & incredibly expensive Sauternes dessert wine, this estate has chosen to dedicate these same, Vielle Vignes or old vines, to the production of still white wines. 

The food menu offers guests a choice for each of the three courses for a price of $49.95 per person, plus tax and gratuity. An optional wine pairing will also be available for an additional price and will feature this rare and delicious Clos des Lunes Lunes Blanche, a blend of semillon & sauvignon blanc which I have paired with one of the Prix Fixe's featured salads. Valentine's Bestie Brunch

We agree with Leslie Nope -- Galentine's Day is a favorite (low pressure) way to celebrate all the love of Valentine's! So we have put together a Galentine's Brunch package meant to help you plan a get-together with all the best friends and strong women your days would be less amazing without. We provide the food and the setting for a great Girl's Day designed to celebrate friendship and the "I got your back" spirit that only our bestie's can provide. Whether your best friends are pals, moms, aunts, co-workers or siblings, we are excited to help celebrate all your important Gals! Click the link here to see the menu. Reservations for this party, which will be held in the Main Dining Room, are required and will be accepted until Friday, February 12 at 9:00pm.  As an added bonus, $3 Mimosas will be served all day until 4:00pm. Its'a a Leap Year so you know what that means....

It means...You've got to celebrate with the Frogs of course! This is a Leap Frog year so we will be offering a wine flight of four of my favorite wines of Frogs Leap Winery in Rutherford, California on each of the Thursday-Saturday weekends during the month of February. This is a great chance to find a new favorite and experience the pure expression of terroir that has been honed by owner and winemaker John Williams during his thirty years at the helm of this ground-breaking winery located in the heart of the famous Napa Valley. John Williams has been relentlessly pursuing excellence in the bottle and vine, ignoring the momentary trends and relentless pursuit of points that has distracted many of his neighbors. Following his commitment to the land and its wine, he watched as many attained great "cult" status with escalating prices soon to follow. Now, as concern for the environment (both of the land and our bodies) has captured our attention and with the benefit of the clear view of hindsight in hand, the world market has come around to John's way of steadfast thinking. He is now the man everyone wants to talk to about winemaking and his wines are those everyone wants on their table. Our 3rd Annual Shamrock 5k Run/Walk to benefit charity will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016. This year, our homegrown fundraiser will benefit the J.P. Home in Waldorf. The mission of the J.P. Home is to create a home-like environment for alcoholics who have a sincere desire to recover from alcoholism; to provide food, housing, information, fellowship and the sharing of spiritual values, which are part of that recovery. The J.P. Home was the beneficiary of the funds raised during our inaugural 5k with the donated funds vital to completing and opening the house.
