We would encourage you to forward a copy to your Chair of Governors or Academy CEO. NCW Skills SuitcaseThe team at National Careers Week have produced a Skills Suitcase, which includes a lesson plan. This is a great individual or paired activity to help students recognise key skills they may not realise the importance of. It’s quick to prepare for and easy to deliver to groups of all sizes. NCW suggest that the activity could help to achieve Gatsby Benchmarks 3, 4 and 8 Fire It UpThe Government has launched a new campaign to promote apprenticeships among young people, parents and employers, whilst confirming that it will write to the largest school trusts who have not published information on their website about how they will ensure providers of vocational education are able talk to pupils in their schools (part of Gatsby Benchmark 7). The Big AssemblyThe Big Assembly is a live video stream to thousands of students across the UK wanting to find out what an apprenticeship could mean for them. Real apprentices will be hosting the event and will be telling students about how to apply for an apprenticeship, what it’s like to be an apprentice and what opportunities there are at the end of an apprenticeship. Network Rail ApprenticeshipsNetwork Rail has opened applications for the September 2019 intake of its Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship Programme. Opportunities are available for students who will be 18 by 29th September and who live up to 60 minutes from a depot. With local depots in Bletchley, Northampton and Hitchin, there are fantastic opportunities in our region.
