Dear fellow AMSRO members,
Following the Special General Meeting held yesterday, I am delighted to announce that members voted unanimously on the following changes:
- To change the
name - The Association of Market and Social Research Organisations (AMSRO) - to the Australian Data and Insights Association (ADIA) Incorporated, and;
- That the Rules of Association be amended (in the form accompanying the Notice of Special General Meeting, sent to all members 31 March 2021).
Insights and data are core elements of the market and social research industry, and the Australian Data and Insights Association is designed to reflect emerging research trends. It ensures the brand name is dynamic, modern and distinct and retains the
association’s strong heritage of trust and privacy for consumers and client companies.
Our new name does not change our priorities, we exist to serve our members.
ADIA will serve its members across four key priority areas:
- To advocate and speak out with a strong voice on behalf of the
industry – building a united, stronger association for all companies collecting, using, and storing data for research and insights. ADIA will advocate and inform the government, media and other stakeholders on relevant industry issues to deliver necessary change and ensure long-term sustainability. Issues addressed include – broader access to the Integrated Public Number Database (IPND), awareness and action to prevent call blocking (SPAM), and a procurement campaign to promote ADIA members.
- To support our members with industry programs and advice. We will continue to deliver relevant (non-technical) professional development and training for businesses and
leaders – ADIA continues the legacy of AMSRO, focusing on expert advisory around privacy law, workplace relations, quality standards, and networking for industry leaders (Leaders Forum conference), supporting young talent.
- To explore relevant strategic partnerships to increase member value – ADIA will continue to work with like-minded partners, company members, privacy authorities, business, government, and the community to protect and promote the industry and uphold the highest ethical and privacy standards.
- To represent a broader, more inclusive Association – providing the compliance framework to inspire, attract and represent a broader industry dedicated to upholding best practice standards for evidence-based decisions which inform and service Australians.
Amended Rules
In addition to the new name, AMSRO's Rules of Association (or our 'constitution') have also been revised to create a contemporary, fit-for-purpose, dynamic and relevant constitution for ADIA. The changes can be reviewed here, along with a copy of the new Rules (note - member log-in required).
A special thanks to the Executive and Committee members for their vision and support throughout this project. Also, to you, our members, for sharing the vision and entrusting us with the future of our industry and the Association.
Our new brand represents an exciting new chapter for AMSRO, and we look forward to working
on behalf of all of our members as we move to ADIA's public launch phase. Watch this space!
As always, I am happy to discuss any of this with you, our members. Please feel free to call me on 0412 370 393.
Kind regards,
George Zdanowicz
President l AMSRO
