Hello to my favorite newsletter readers in the Palmetto State. Thank you for those of you who shared your burger recommendations with me yesterday. I have quite a few to try out. With that being said, I come to you all today with great news on the food front. It is National Guacamole Day. It just so happens to be one of my favorite dips.

Absentee voting set to expand during pandemic, SC lawmakers reject other election changes
All registered voters in South Carolina will be able to cast absentee ballots in the November election due to the coronavirus pandemic under changes approved by state lawmakers Tuesday, but the Republican majority rejected other proposals recommended by election officials. (Read the full story) 

Mount Pleasant restores mask-wearing mandate to slow spread of coronavirus
Tuesday’s vote came at the third Town Council meeting since a previous mask mandate expired Aug. 31. Residents opposed to mask requirements have spoken at each meeting, and those supporting mask rules attended the last two gatherings after a mask requirement failed to pass on Sept. 1. 3 Charleston County libraries close for renovations. Work begins in October.
Three Charleston County regional libraries have closed for renovations, with work expected to begin in the coming weeks. The projects are part of an ongoing $108.5 million referendum voters approved in 2014. (Learn which libraries will close.)
