Meet your new Youth Council 2019Welcome to the 16 new members of our Youth Council, who join four existing members to help shape the future for young people in Frankston City and beyond. This is a great time to join, with 2019 marking 10 years since a Youth Council first began advocating for Frankston City's youth. “It gives me somewhere where I can have a say about things, when my voice would otherwise be so little," says Youth Councillor Kayden. “Being on the youth council allows me a platform to help make a change," says Youth Councillor Alex. Volunteer Awards 2019: Nominations now openDo you know a dedicated volunteer in the Frankston community who deserves to be recognised for their contribution? You can nominate them for the Frankston City 2019 Volunteer of the Year Awards, with nominations open until 31 July 2019. The overall winner receives $1,000 for their volunteer organisation. Awards will be presented at the Mayor’s Family Picnic in September. Welcome to our new Youth MayorThe city’s new Youth Mayor, Aaron Quarrell, will serve with us for the next twelve months. Aaron, who is a resident of Frankston North, thanked Council for choosing him to take on the role. “I’m really happy and honoured for this opportunity. I’m up for the challenge and looking forward to learning as much as I can,” says Aaron. Outgoing Youth Mayor, Gerard Felipe wished Aaron the best in his new role. Heritage register: Nominations now openIs there a building, site, structure or landscape feature you believe has outstanding historical, aesthetic or cultural significance? Council is seeking nominations for significant heritage sites throughout Frankston City. Let's help protect what makes our city great. Nominations close on Friday 29 March. Party in the Park 2019Tuesday 9 April, 9.30am–1.30pm, Cruden Farm, Langwarrin, FREE Come along for a fun family day out, with party play pen, interactive areas, jungle dress ups, animal farm, face painting and lots of prizes to be won. Bring your own picnic or treat yourself to the community barbecue. Supported PlaygroupsOur FREE Supported Playgroups are a safe and friendly place for eligible families to have fun, while receiving parenting tips and support. Qualified early learning professionals run weekly sessions during term-time, with morning tea provided.
