Writing For Real
Our guest writer, Samuel Leighton-Dore, is a Sydney-based writer, director and columnist.
On 4 June I'll be speaking at the Emerging Writer's Festival in Melbourne about the challenges and ethical struggles that can arise when we write about the real people in our lives. It remains largely untaught: Where do mostly-decent storytelling human beings draw the line between a rich narrative experience and the hurtful exploitation of trust? Furthermore, how do we give voice to a particular community without inadvertently misrepresenting them? [more]

ABC On Wide Angle
Good to see the ABC highlighting the diminishing support for the emerging filmmaker sector around the country. With $80,000 worth of Screen Australia funding dropped, our sister org in Tasmania, Wide Angle, has got a hard road ahead. State body Screen Tasmania is committed to keeping the doors open and is continuing to lobby the Federal Government to rethink the decision. Read the story here.
