Know your networkThe National Plant Biosecurity Diagnostic Network was established in 2011 to support plant diagnosticians and improve Australia’s capability and capacity to identify plant pests. It also prepares laboratories to provide diagnostic services effectively and efficiently during an emergency response. To be eligible to join you must be an active plant diagnostician employed within Australasia by a government agency, a research institution-based laboratory, industry, a commercial laboratory or a museum. Network membership provides you with the opportunity to:
The 2022 Annual Diagnostics and Surveillance WorkshopThe Annual Diagnostics and Surveillance Workshop (ADSW) 2022 happened from 30th August to 1st September in Melbourne. The theme of the hybrid workshop was “Surveillance and Diagnostics- integrated to inspire and innovate.” The ADSW was remarkably successful with initial feedback indicating that more joint diagnostics and surveillance workshop should be held, inclusion of a field trip, panel discussions and training workshops be considered for future workshops. The 14th Australasian Plant Virology WorkshopThe 14th Australasian Plant Virology Workshop (APVW) will be held in Melbourne, Australia from 5-7 December 2022 in conjunction with the Hemipteran-Plant Interaction Symposium (HPIS-2022). National Diagnostic ProtocolsNational Diagnostic Protocols (NDPs) are a verified national information resource designed to help diagnosticians identify plant pests. NDPs are endorsed for use in a pest incursion and ensure consistency and enable transparency when comparing diagnostic results between laboratories. Upcoming eventsNDP development webinarThe first topic in our new NPBDN Webinar series will be on NDP Development on 23 November 2022 from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM (AEDT). Speakers include Lucy Tran-Nguyen (PHA), Toni Chapman (NSW DPI), David Lovelock (Ag Vic), Elisse Nogarotto (Ag Vic), Sam Hair, Oonagh Byrne and Monica Kehoe (WA DPIRD). For updates on upcoming workshops visit the NPBDN website. EPPO global databaseEPPO Global Database is maintained by the Secretariat of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO). The aim of the database is to provide all pest-specific information that has been produced or collected by EPPO.
