Chapter Happenings

Revelstoke - Our newest Chapter founded itself within the past couple of weeks amidst an advocacy campaign for Early French Immersion in their district. Check out what they have been working on in the Revelstoke Current and Revelstoke Time Review. This chapter is struggling with getting support from their district/trustees. If you have any advice for them on what worked in your community you can contact their President Stephanie at: smelnyk@engineer.com

Rendezvous de la Francophonie - At least two chapters, Tri-cities and New Westminster hosted French film festivals to celebrate la francophonie!

Branch - Heather Bartlett and Kirsty Peterson both attended professional development courses last month. Heather's training was in grant/proposal writing and Kirsty learned about the BC Society Act. If you have any questions for them feel free to email Heather at projects@cpf.bc.ca or Kirsty at outreach@cpf.bc.ca.

Don't forget to send photos, local issues and stories about what is going on in your chapter to Kirsty at: outreach@cpf.bc.ca to be included in future CRUs.

Volunteer Appreciation

Cranbrook Chapter Volunteer Appreciation

Salmon Arm, New Westminster, Cranbrook, Pacific Rim, Saanich, Ridge Meadows and Port Alberni Chapters celebrated French Immersion Celebration Week by recognizing their volunteers. There was cake, cookies, coffe and tea, appies, gift cards, movies, thank you cards, chocolate and gift baskets in appreciation of all the hard work their volunteers do.

In BC & Yukon, last year alone our volunteers logged over 27,000 volunteer hours! It is only with the work of you, our volunteers, that we are able to do such amazing work for the over 267,700 French as a Second Language students of BC & Yukon!
