We wanted to get in touch and help you get ready for your Construction journey - with aspirational statistics from your chosen sector, information about the many opportunities available to you at College, and details of some preparations you can make for College life.   • The Construction industry contributes £117billion to the UK economy, which is around 6% of total income. Much of this revenue comes from the average of almost 200,000 new houses being built each year
  • The sector employs around 2.4 million people, many of which are self-employed
     

There are many exciting roles and career opportunities within the Construction sector. These include:

Before you start in September, you should try to: 

  • Read up on your course
  • Research your chosen subject
  • Look up the types of careers you may want to do
  • Find out more about the College’s designated Careers Zone - getting you ready for your future
  • Think about if you need any materials or equipment for your course - if you need more information let us know 
  • What kind of extracurricular activities might you be interested in at College - you can view our extracurricular guide online and sign up at enrolment

Think about any questions you might want to ask your tutor at your New Student Event.

 

Students on this course enjoy an array of opportunities to enhance their study programme. You will be paired with an employer to enhance your talent, as well as hear from industry representatives on the latest sector developments. You may also have the chance to test yourself in competitions –  recently our Painting and Decorating star Megan Talbot was Highly Commended at the national SkillBuild challenge!
