Women Lawyers' Association NSW

Dear Members and Colleagues,

Our launch of the 2021 program for Women Lawyers Association of NSW on 18 February 2021 was a fabulous event, and great opportunity to catch up with members and colleagues. Our ‘secret speaker’, the Emeritus Professor Rosalind Croucher AM, President of the Australian Human Rights Commission, delivered her usual witty and entertaining address to guests, filling in for her Honour Justice Virginia Bell. Please click here to view the photo gallery. A video recording of the presentations will be uploaded shortly.

The event officially launched our 2021 signature biennial NSW Women Lawyers Achievement Awards. Our NSW Women Lawyers’ Achievement Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of outstanding women lawyers, mentors and firms that have achieved excellence in their area of practice and helped create opportunities for women in the law. The NSW Women Lawyers Achievement Awards 2021 will be held at the Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park at 7pm on Friday 3 September 2021. Bookings for the event will open shortly. We will be joined by guest speaker, Her Excellency The Honourable Margaret Beazley AO QC, Governor of NSW. Nominations and Sponsorship is open, and close 31 May 2021. I encourage you to nominate a fabulous woman lawyer, mentor or firm for an award. Please click here for further details and to view some videos and the photo gallery from our last Awards.

The Executive Committee met for a Strategic Planning day late January to focus on our priorities for 2021 and exploring ways to continue to bring value to you as the voice of women and the legal community in NSW. Please click here to view our Strategic Plan, updated Constitution and Code of Conduct.

If you are a current member and interested in serving on a subcommittee (click here for details), please forward a brief bio with your experience and why you would like to be involved in that subcommittee to our Executive Officer, Kathryn McKenzie at executive@womenlawyersnsw.org.au.

We are looking forward to a busy year of events and policy work and look forward to having you on board. Please join us at our upcoming events as detailed below.

Kind regards,

Renée Bianchi, President
