Thyroid Treatment Might Improve Related Sexual Problems
Patients with thyroid disease often experience sexual problems, but many of these issues resolve with thyroid treatment, according to a new paper in Sexual Medicine Reviews.
The authors discussed 12 studies on hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism and their effects on sexual health.
Past studies have linked thyroid disease to erectile dysfunction (ED) and ejaculatory disorders in men. For women, common problems include low desire, poor vaginal lubrication, orgasm difficulties, low satisfaction, and painful intercourse.
More details on the study, including the prevalence of sexual dysfunction in patients with thyroid disease and the possible mechanisms involved, are available here.
