Peer Advisor Position

Full-time Lab Manager, Cornell University

We are seeking a full-time lab manager for the new Better Outcomes Laboratory. This laboratory will examine long-term functioning and well-being after depression and related mental health conditions, with particular focus on understanding good outcomes. This position will provide an excellent research and training environment to learn about emotion theory and research more broadly. As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to perform research and gain experience in study design, recruitment, data collection, clinical interviewing, and data analysis. This position is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in clinical psychology or a related field.vThe lab manager will work closely with the Principal Investigator (Jonathan Rottenberg) to manage daily activities of the lab and assist with all aspects of the research process on multiple projects. Our group strongly values mentorship and professional development, and the incumbent will have opportunities that lead to independent projects, co-authoring publications, and presenting at conferences. A two-year commitment is strongly preferred, with an initial appointment of one year and renewal contingent on available funding, available work, and successful performance.

Primary responsibilities will include recruiting and screening participants (online and in person); collecting data (behavioral tasks, online surveys, clinical interviews); data management, cleaning, and analysis; training and supervising undergraduate research assistants; and general administrative duties to maintain the workings of the lab (e.g., assisting with IRB protocols; laboratory purchasing; maintaining lab website and lab documents).

Successful applicants will have experience in conducting psychology research and have strong organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills.

2 Full-time Clinical Research Coordinators, Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School

We are currently looking to hire 2 full-time clinical research coordinators (start date summer 2024) to join us at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School and assist with NIMH- and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention-funded studies aimed at improving short-term risk prediction for suicidal behavior in adolescents. A primary interest in suicide and depression research is not required for these positions. Rather, we seek candidates with the character and potential to excel in our lab and beyond, regardless of their specific clinical research interests.

The research coordinators will work under the mentorship of Dr. Richard Liu and Dr. Taylor Burke at Massachusetts General Hospital. These positions are particularly well suited for individuals seeking to gain research and clinical experience prior to graduate or medical school.

Full-time Research Assistant, Harvard University

Under the supervision of Dr. McLaughlin, the individual in this position will be involved in an active research lab with several large grants and participate in many aspects of the research process, including recruitment of children and adolescents into research, preparation of IRB applications, data collection from children and caregivers, data management, programming behavioral tasks, and maintenance of a database for participant recruitment and tracking.  These duties will primarily focus on either an intensive repeated-measures fMRI study examining dynamic changes in emotion, behavior, and brain function following exposure to stress in adolescents. Data collection for this study involves acquisition of psychophysiology and MRI data in addition to assessments of mental health and exposure to stress and adversity.

Full-time Lab Manager, VIrginia Tech

Applications are invited for a full-time lab manager position in the Mental State Processing and Psychopathology lab directed by Dr. Chloe Hudson in the Department of Psychology, Clinical Science area at Virginia Tech. This position will begin in Spring or Summer of 2024. Our research focuses on the foundational social and metacognitive skills that are involved in the accurate consideration of internal mental states (e.g., emotions, thoughts). We are particularly interested in how individual differences in mental state processing contributes to a variety of important outcomes, including psychopathology, meaningful social relationships, and the effectiveness of psychotherapy. To this end, we study the full spectrum of health and psychiatric illness, with a particular focus on internalizing disorders. More details about our work can be found on our website.

Primary responsibilities will include: recruiting, screening, scheduling, consenting, and running participants through study protocols; collecting, entering, managing, and ensuring quality of participant data; supervising undergraduate research assistants; assisting with IRB management, grant applications, data processing and analysis, conference presentations, and manuscript preparation.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in psychology, cognitive science, or related field; one year of human subjects research experience; demonstrated organizational, time-management, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with data programs (e.g., R, REDCap) and experience conducting diagnostic interviews are also desirable, but not required.
