Melbourne Street busway portal improvement project

Brisbane City Council is widening the Melbourne Street busway tunnel by repositioning the tunnel walls approximately 20 metres into the tunnel. This will accommodate a wider flare at the entrance to the portal.

The pedestrian gates will also be relocated to allow for this widening. As a result, there will be some minor works to traffic islands within the intersection of the portal and Melbourne Street.

The project will improve safety and connectivity at this important piece of infrastructure.
