The 2019-2020 school calendar is now available on our school website. Secondary Towers Reach New HeightsAs promised, here are pictures from our final Team Tower Challenge. As architects have learned over the centuries, a wide base is not necessary, a strong and level foundation is, to build towers that reach for the clouds (or in this case the ceiling tiles). Last chance to donate to the winter clothes drive:Have you been watching Marie Kondo's Tidying Up on Netflix? Are you ready to say, "thank you" to your used close and clear out that closet? This is your last chance to donate your used clothes and toys to children in need! Scientific 8-Year-Old classIn the 8 year-olds we have been doing some engaging learning activities this week. In science we took a look at magnets and tested the magnetism of materials. Later in the week we did an experiment to compare the friction forces of various materials. We are also adding a technology component and are close finishing up our PowerPoint presentations on animals with color variations within the species which we are almost ready to present to the class. In mathematics we are finishing up our unit on division. Our mental division skills are becoming very refined! Finally we have started working on our persuasive essays which we will use to convince one another about a problem in the world today and the best course of action to take. Growing and learning in the 4-year-old classFour-year-olds are perceptive little humans. They are at that age where what is being learned is naturally applied to their daily lives. We are learning about patterns, so they are naturally seeing patterns everywhere. Walking in line as boy, girl, boy, girl is now a pattern. Our snack is not only healthy, but an AB pattern of grapes and apples. The coloring of the snowman’s cap turns into an ABC pattern of green, blue, and purple. Farm animals aren’t just standing in a corral, but become pig, cow, pig, cow or big horse, little horse. My four-year-olds do not understand yet that the learning of math is a practical and essential part of life. They just think math is fun. And that is just fine! Concern for Others from the 7-year-old classCongratulations to the 7s class who presented "Concern for Others," one of our Success Orientations, to the school this week! They acted live on stage as well as in clips, danced and sang in what could be the best class presentation this year. Super work! Adult BadmintonAdult Badminton Club: every Wednesday, 7:30 - 9:30.
