Submit a Proposal to the STFM Project Fund
This fund encourages STFM Collaboratives and Special Project Teams to plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and disseminate findings from educationally-related scholarly projects. The proposed project should provide students, residents and new faculty an opportunity to participate in a significant way in a scholarly project that introduces them to STFM.

Submit Your Proposal by November 18, 2020.

John Saultz, MD, Named STFM Representative to CHFM
The STFM Executive Committee has selected John Saultz, MD, to be the STFM's Representative to the Center for the History of Family Medicine (CHFM) Board of Curators.

Residency Curriculum Resource Associate Editor Position Now Open
STFM and the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors (AFMRD) are seeking an associate editor for the Residency Curriculum Resource. Associate editors are appointed for a 3-year term, and the position is renewable for an additional 3-year term.

Reviewers Needed for 2021 STFM Annual Spring Conference Submissions
The STFM Program Committee is seeking volunteer reviewers for the 2021 STFM Annual Spring Conference submissions. As a volunteer reviewer, you can expect to review 25-30 submissions, which should take about 3 to 4 hours. 

Reviews will begin by September 14 and must be completed by October 21. If interested, email Ray Rosetta by September 11.

The Impact of Fluctuating Preceptors Recruitment and Retention in View of a Fluctuating Medical Class Size

According to a 2008 study commissioned by the Medical College of Georgia, Georgia was on the verge of a health care crisis due to a drought of physicians. Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) President Valerie Montgomery Rice recognized the state’s insufficient number of primary care physicians, including a specific lack of minority physicians, and how this negatively affected low-income areas in Georgia. MSM stepped in to develop a plan to address this physician shortage.

AAFP's Student Organization Grant Applications Are Now Open
The Family Medicine Student Organization (FMSO) Grant Program is a new program that will fund a variety of medical student groups doing innovative work to grow and diversify the family medicine workforce and advance primary care. Applications will be accepted through March 2021.

PBS Documentary Highlights Immunization Action Coalition  
As part its 24th season on PBS, Visionaries, Inc. selected Protecting Health: Saving Lives to be one of twelve featured stories offered to public television stations during 2020-21.

The documentary weaves the story of Dr Deborah Wexler's personal commitment to vaccination education with a great deal of information on vaccines and their delivery, including the challenges presented by anti-vaccination messaging. Wexler is the founder and executive director of the Immunization Action Coalition and a member of the STFM/AAFP Shots Immunizations coalition. 

The Shots Immunizations app, provides easy-to-use, up-to-date vaccine information at the point of care and was developed by vaccine experts at AAFP and STFM. The app, available in the AAFP mobile app and as a standalone app, can be downloaded on iTunes and Google Play
