Dear Colleagues,

On Friday, May 7, all University staff will observe a spring staff holiday.

This holiday traditionally occurs at the end of the students’ spring break week, but was rescheduled this year due to the compressed calendar.

We thank you for your consistent professionalism and dedication throughout this unique term. We hope this holiday provides you with an opportunity to relax and enjoy the extended weekend.

Staff who are required to work during this University holiday should work with their supervisors to determine how to report this time. Represented employees should refer to their collective bargaining agreements for any potential application of these holidays.

For timekeeping purposes, non-exempt (biweekly pay) employees should record this day as holiday time on their time cards; exempt (monthly pay) employees do not need to report this holiday time on a time card. Non-exempt (biweekly pay) employees can refer to the Holiday Scenario Guide on the Pitt Worx Hub for more information about recording holiday time and recording hours worked on a holiday.

For more information about recording time worked or time off, please review the reference guides on the time cards on the Pitt Worx Hub.

Please remember to take care of yourself and others by continuing to wear a face covering, practicing physical distancing, and maintaining frequent handwashing.

Thank you for your continued dedication to keeping yourself and our community safe and enjoy your holiday!

Cheers,

David N. DeJong
Senior Vice Chancellor for Business and Operations
