Peer Advisor Position

Dietrich School Peer Advisors provide in-person and virtual support to prospective, incoming, and enrolled students needing assistance with questions and concerns related to academic advising. Summer Research Position Available

Impact of Psychosocial Factors on the Immune System

Dr. Marsland's Behavioral Immunology Laboratory is recruiting undergraduate research assistants for the upcoming semester! Research in our laboratory explores how psychological and social factors affect the function of the immune system and the process of aging. Our group’s overall research aim is to explore how these phenomena affect susceptibility to disease in humans – a truly interdisciplinary focus. Students will have direct involvement with the many research projects our lab is involved with, some of which Dr. Marsland is a primary investigator (PI) on, and others in which she is a collaborator with researchers outside of the University of Pittsburgh. Undergraduate Research Assistants help prepare samples for storage, set up experiments/assays, record results into study databases, analyze and refine finished data sets, and assist with the maintenance of laboratory inventories and equipment, organize, and prepare clinical samples for analysis, as well as other tasks, under the direction of the laboratory manager, Zak Hutchinson and Dr. Marsland. Our laboratory is thoroughly committed to not just educating our students, but also mentoring them so we can help prepare them for success after their time with the University is over.  We also pride ourselves on our commitment to inclusion and diversity. Computer skills are a must and working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel are required.  Applicants should be independent and responsible and be able to ensure a safe working environment. In addition, applicants should possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and be able to to sensitively interact with others as a part of the greater laboratory team.

Full-time Research Coordinator, USC

The Cognition and Affect Regulation Lab, directed by Dr. Jonathan Stange in the Department of Psychology at the University of Southern California (USC), is seeking a full-time benefits-eligiblee lab coordinator position. This position will be funded by an NIH R01 and offers competitive salary and benefits.

Our lab seeks to identify cognitive and affective processes that are involved in the regulation of negative affect, in an effort to understand vulnerability factors for mood disorders and suicide.This work involves laboratory-based measures of brain activity (using fMRI), autonomic nervous system functioning (electrocardiogram and respiration), and behavior (executive functioning tasks and questionnaires). In addition, to understand behavior outside of the lab in the real world, we utilize ambulatory assessment to measure fluctuations in autonomic  functioning (with wearables), sleep quality (with actigraphy), affect and regulation strategies (using ecological momentary assessment), and digital phenotyping approaches to measuring behavior (using smartphone keyboard metadata)

This position is ideal for a recent graduate from a Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, or other STEM program who is interested in gaining clinical research experience in mental health and/or neuroscience in preparation for graduate or medical school.

Full-time Research Assistant, Northwestern University

Dr. Stewart Shankman is seeking a full time research study assistant for his lab at Northwestern University to assist on NIH and/or industry-funded projects. Broadly, research in the lab examines (a) basic mechanisms and risk factors underlying mood and anxiety disorders in adolescents and adulthood, and (b) novel treatments for these conditions. Our lab utilizes multiple methods in this work, including behavioral, physiological, neural, and digital tools. The Research Assistants will have the opportunity to gain experience in experimental design, recruitment, data collection and analysis. Abundant opportunities for co-authoring manuscripts and conference presentations will also be available. The position will also provide the opportunity to learn about brain-based and psychopathological theory and research more broadly, as well as clinical interviewing skills. Successful applicants will have experience in psychological, neuroscience (or related area) research, quantitative data analysis, and coding skills and have strong organizational and writing skills.

Full-time Research Assistant, Washington University

We are looking for a FULL TIME research assistant to work on the project described below. YOU MUST HAVE PRIOR HUMAN SUBJECT RESEARCH EXPERIENCE. If you are interested, please send a resume to Deanna Barch (dbarch@wustl.edu). We would love someone to start as soon as possible.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to have a research assistant as part of a large-scale project to study health, behavior and brain structure and function in children and adolescents. The person will: 1) have responsibility for testing and scanning participants using task-based functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and behavioral/cognitive/computerized testing; 2) help with preprocessing and quality control of imaging and behavioral data; and 3) work with a team of other research assistants to assess a large sample of individuals with task and resting state fMRI and behavioral data as part of the project.
