Atelier Richelieu, 60, rue de Richelieu, 75002 Paris, France Ricco/Maresca Gallery, New Yorkuntil October 19, 2019 Joe Massey was an African-American self-taught artist and poet who created a compelling body of work during his incarceration at the Ohio Penitentiary in Columbus. His correspondence with Charles Henri Ford, editor of the pioneering surrealist publication View, resulted in the inclusion of Massey's art in issues of the magazine. Most of the works included in "Shut Up: Joe Massey's Messages from Prison" and in the accompanying monograph are drawn in blue-black ink, most likely using a rough-tipped dip pen. Ricco/Maresca Gallery 2x2 Forum at Kunsthaus Kannen, MünsterOctober 3–6, 2019 Kunsthaus Kannen will be hosting the 2x2 Forum for Outsider Art for the sixth time this year in Münster, Germany. Nineteen international galleries – including from Cuba and South Korea – are coming together to show and sell their work. Folk artist and retired puppeteer Stephen Carter lives on a northwestern Washington State island with his wife and their goats.
