Welcome to Issue #01 of Habitat 2013

Message from the Director

Are you one of our seven hundred new Bachelor of Environments students beginning your studies? If so, congratulations and welcome. You are joining one of Australia’s most innovative degrees learning critical skills to think across disciplines. From this multi-disciplinary base, you will develop written, oral and visual skills for speculating on our designed, constructed and productive future environments and for communicating complex data.

Don’t forget to join the excellent ENVI Club. You have a unique opportunity to build a global network of colleagues. Across our degree we have students from many countries including Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Russian Federation, Singapore and South Africa.

Hint: Take a good look through our new Environments and Design Student Centre website. It is packed with information to help you make the most of your degree.

Associate Professor Clare Newton
Director, Bachelor of Environments

Managing your Enrolment

Changing your Semester 1 Subjects

You can still enrol into new Semester 1 subjects in your Study Plan until Friday 15 March -- the end of Week 2.

How do I swap subjects?

If you are currently enrolled in a subject you would like to replace, you need to withdraw from this subject. To withdraw from a subject, navigate to the Admin Tab in your Student Portal. Under Managing My Enrolment, click on Withdraw from enrolled subjects. Follow the prompts until your subject withdrawal is confirmed.

You can now return to your Study Plan to enrol into your new subject.

What if I don't meet prerequisites?

Unless you have prerequisite requirements waived by the subject coordinator, you must satisfy any prerequisites and corequisites before enrolling in a subject.

If you believe you may be eligible to have prerequisites waived, you can make this request to the subject coordinator. The contact details for the subject coordinator can be found in the subject entry in the University Handbook.

If the subject coordinator waives the prerequisites for you, you would need to forward a copy of their written approval by email to 13melb [at] unimelb.edu.au.

Further information about managing your enrolment is available on the EDSC Amending your Study Plan web page.
