Kangaroo Island Update

As we approach the anniversary of the extinguishing of the disastrous bushfires on Kangaroo Island and after many delays, we are pleased to announce that Rev Mark Dickens will work with the Kangaroo Island community on behalf of the Uniting Church.

Day of Mourning

On Sunday, January 24th (just prior to Australia Day) Uniting Church congregations are encouraged to hold worship services to reflect upon and lament the effect of the invasion and colonisation of this nation upon First Peoples.

Prayer Points

This week we pray for:

  • We pray that this first month of the year will be filled with your peace, presence and hope. Help us to remember what is important at this time.
  • May we who are merely inconvenienced by this pandemic remember those whose lives are at stake
  • May we who have no risk factors remember our most vulnerable
  • May we who have the luxury of working from home remember those that must choose between preserving their health or making their rent
  • As we look to cancelling plans and trips, may we remember those that have no place to go
  • During this time, when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other, let us find ways to be the loving embrace of God.
