COVID-19 Alert

The Uniting Church joins with the whole community of South Australia and strives to keep everyone as healthy as possible.

Please be aware that the South Australian Government has announced a 7-day lockdown which comes into effect from 6.00 pm this evening (20th July). As a result of this the Synod office, Uniting Venues, Uniting College and all congregation buildings will be closed for the next 7 days. Further information is available from the Synod website and the South Australian Government's COVID-19 website.

May we take this time to reflect on God’s abundant love as we care for the vulnerable around us and continue to worship God and provide care from our homes this week.

Leading with Creativity and Hope

When Rev Sharon Hollis was named President-elect of the Uniting Church in Australia, the world was a different place. It was pre-COVID-19 and before mandatory check-ins, the ubiquitous hand sanitiser and the mask-wearing etc. Last weekend Sharon was installed as President of the UCA, the third woman to hold the post.

Prayer Points

This week we pray for:

  • For our new President, Rev Sharon Hollis, as she offers spiritual guidance and encouragement to the Church over the next three years
  • For Rev Charissa Suli, as she enters a time of preparation as President-elect
  • For the on-going faithful ministry and discipleship of retiring President Dr Deidre Palmer in the Uniting Church
  • For the South Australian community as it moves into a seven-day lockdown to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Reflection of the week

The moment a drop of water falls onto a cloth, the moisture disperses, gently spreading across the fabric, gradually soaking the whole piece. It is as natural as the kind smile that one face passes to another. When God’s love dwells deep in our souls, the warming, unconditional love that we express also spreads further.
