Dear member
Planning is underway for our third year of the RRR Network Satellite Sundowner (held in the week of 13 to 19 October).
Each year a different theme is presented in home-grown videos which are shared at community and private social events across rural remote and regional WA, with over 35 Satellite Sundowner events held in the first two years.
In 2012 we were Finding Love in the Country, celebrating 21 women’s stories. In 2013 in a partnership with ABC Open, community workshops were held, supporting the In My Backyard theme.
This year, we are exploring Life’s Big Questions. Each month ABC Open poses three questions, with the option of answering one or more.
There are already some great examples on the ABC Open website (click on Life’s Big Questions). Check out their online tips to creat a video postcard or join one of their community workshops.
RRR Network will share a selection of video postcards at this year's Satellite Sundowner events on Thursday 16 October 2014.
‘What do you do when you feel sad?’, ‘What is Love?’ and ‘What is the worst present you have ever received?’ are the current questions. They are a real mix and some questions will take more time to contemplate than others.
Answering the last question, though this was not my present but a present from a well-meaning new husband to my friend (his new wife); the worst birthday present was a door-mat.
To say the least my friend was not amused with his ‘thoughtfulness’ (although her husband was thinking about their new house and what they would need). It still puts a smile on my face as a gift I perhaps would never have even thought of!
It's your time to share via a video postcard or at a Satellite Sundowner event, which are both great ways to yarn together about Life’s Big Questions!
Smile for now.
