On the Radio!

Guess what! I'm going to be on national radio soon! Caleb and I emailed Radio New Zealand about a month or so ago telling about our The Art of a Hut project and asking if they would be interested to have us on their show. A week ago they finally replied and said 'when can you come in?'!

The studio is in Wellington which is a long way away, but it works out well since I've already planned to go down to Levin with friends in a couple of weeks so I can go in to the studio then. It will be heaps of fun, and I've really got to know all about what I'm talking about! I've got to get the names of the places we are planning to go hut drawing right, that's something I'm not so good at! Well, I'll let you know when I'll be on and you can hear how well I do. I'll be on the Art's on Sunday program, and I'm not sure yet if they do it live or not.

DOC

DOC finally got back to me and have offered to donate me one twelve month hut pass which will be very helpful. Having a hut pass means I can stay at any DOC hut, with a few exceptions, without paying for a whole year. So I'm going to try and visit all the huts I want to draw in one year and concentrate on the finished and larger drawings and perhaps a few paintings the year after when I have my exhibition. I'm hoping to hold that in the spring of 2015, October or November.

I've been using the the DOC website allot especially their very useful map which has most of the huts marked out on it.

Commissions

I've had a few commissions to work on lately which I am very grateful for. This is one of my favorites of a beautiful dog called Ford. I was given a lovely photo to work one and I really enjoyed the whole day I spent in the stuio working on it. I used pastel pencils on Strathmore tan toned paper.

I am now working on another portrait of three horses in the same picture. It's on the drawing board in the studio where I have already spent ten hours on it this week. I'm quite happy with how it's going which makes the whole thing so much more enjoyable!
