Latest Update...
Week commencing 24th February to week commencing 9th March.
Steel Work Installation
The steel work is being installed in sections as per the site plan. This phase will continue throughout February.
The pathway between BLS and the Library has been closed to accommodate the mobile crane.
As we install the steel frame, a number of holes will be drilled in to the exposed concrete wall of the existing Library in order to connect the new steel frame.
To understand the impact of these works, a trial will be undertaken between Thursday 27th and Friday 28th February. The project team will be present to measure the levels of noise and vibration. The outcome of the trial will inform the plans for the remaining holes.
Though this work will be carried out externally, some noise disruption is expected internally to the Library. This will be monitored closely and controled locally should works become too disruptive. Noisy works are not permitted after 11am as per previous arrangements.
Concrete flooring is being fitted to all levels of the first three sections of steel work. This will be carried out to all sections as and when they complete.
Please note that a time-lapse camera is in operation on Library Avenue. The camera takes still photography and does not provide a live feed. The footage is downloaded periodically by the Facilities Marketing & Communications team and is used for marketing and communication purposes.
