Congratulations to everyone graduating this week!

The North Terrace campus has turned into a hub of activity for the week, so if you're a current student looking for space to study, it's worth keeping that in mind.

There are some great internship and competition opportunities this week, along with great events (roller discos, anyone?), so take a look below for more info. Have a great week!

Coffee giveaways in PASS classes

Need a boost to get through to the mid-semester break? Random coffee giveaways will be happening in week 8 in selected PASS classes, where you can improve your grades and understanding of course content. No need to enrol, just check the timetable and come along!

  • Decision Making in the Dark - Richard Harris
    16 September, 9:30am to 11:00am - Harry Medlin Rooms, Level 4 Union House
    Hear the interesting story of Dr Richard ‘Harry’ Harris SC OAM, who in July 2018, joined an international team as anaesthetist to rescue a group of 12 boys and their soccer coach from a flooded cave in Chiang Rai, Thailand. RSVP essential.

  • Research Metrics for grant applications and benchmarking 
    18 September - multiple sessions
     Join Anthony Dona from Clarivate Analytics in exploring research metrics and benchmarking. Anthony will demonstrate how to use Clarivate products, including Web of Science, InCites, Journal Citation Reports, ORCiD and Publons, to generate the metrics you need for ARC and NHMRC grant applications, or to benchmark research.

 
  • Australian Reading Hour
    19 September - Barr Smith Library recreational reading collection
    Come along to Reading Hour and hear local author, Alys Jackson, speak about her personal relationship with books and the influential power of stories. Afterwards, feel free to get some reading done in the Barr Smith Library's Recreational Reading Collection area - grab a book and settle into a comfy chair for a while!

  • Gender, Sex and Sexualities Postgraduate and Early Career Researcher Conference
    23 -24 September - Napier 102
    Join us for this conference regarding contested histories and emerging identities. Hosted by the Fay Gale Centre for research on gender, it aims to bring together postgraduate students and early career researchers from across Australia to share work and research. Free registration to this event is available now!

 

Careers & employment

The Adelaide University Union advertises part time work for current students on the paid vacancies page from Employment Services.

Career Services are free for all students. CareerHub features a jobs board of opportunities related to your studies including paid work experience and graduate roles. The Careers team also run employer events and workshops to increase employability, build resumes, improve your interview skills and more.
