Click here Cairns Regional Council e-news - Volume 30, 24 May 2019Free weekend city parking is backEnjoy the sites, sounds and tastes of the city on the weekend, and don't worry about parking fees. Starting this weekend (25 and 26 May), on-street CBD parking will be free from 2pm on Saturday and all day on Sunday. There will also be no time limits during these hours. Drivers are reminded that normal rules apply to loading zones, taxi zones, bus zones, no-standing zones, accessible bays and other restricted parking areas. CBD visitors should ignore the parking signs applying to Saturday afternoons and Sundays during the transition and are not required to pay or take a parking ticket to display on their dashboard. All parking is free on public holidays. Fees and time limits will continue at the following Council off-street car parks:
Busy Manunda Library turns a new pageThe completion of Manunda Library's three-month rejuvenation was celebrated this week with a special morning tea, hosted by Division 4 Councillor Terry James. There's new carpet, chic modular lounges, comfortable armchairs and a fresh paint job. Manunda Library was the first branch to be located within a shopping centre complex, opening in Raintrees Shopping centre in 2007. Fast facts:

Setting off from the Northern Esplanade Fun Ship playground at Riders are reminded to wear a helmet! Swimming spot's revampCrystal Cascades is to get a major face lift and you still have time have your say about the planning. The improvement plan, estimated to cost $1.54 million, includes better car parking, updated entry signage, toilet amenities including new change rooms, CCTV, replacement of shelters, seating, BBQs, bins, and water bubblers, along with a new boardwalk and deck to enable inclusive access to viewing opportunities of the creek. The plan will be available for public comment until the end of May. Murray headlines CPAC Open DayIf you've ever wanted a glimpse behind the stage curtain, you'll get your chance at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre Open Day on 22 June. As part of a spectacular program, award-winning Australian musician Pete Murray (above) will headline a Munro Martin Parklands concert. The Munro Martin Parklands event is just part of the Open Day program, with free behind-the-scenes tours of CPAC held throughout the day, and a foodie heaven on Florence Street through Meet Eat Repeat.
