Welcome to our first newsletter 

Thank you to everyone who has subscribed to the AFWI newsletter so far. I think we can all agree that it has been a whirlwind since our launch on March 12, and exciting things have been happening at HQ.

Today marks another huge milestone for AFWI as we launched our National Open Call for Research.

National Open Call for Research is LIVE! 🌳🔬

We're excited to announce that applications are now open for the first round of our National Open Call for Research.

AFWI invites Australian-based researchers to apply for funding through its National Open Call for Research.

The funding will support transformative, collaborative, end-user-focused research in the forestry and wood products industries across Australia.

Applications are now open here.

We will soon be hosting webinar sessions for potential applicants and all interested stakeholders. We'll send you an invitation to register your interest very soon.

Agfest 2024

The AFWI team spent three fantastic days at Agfest Field Days, Tasmania. 

We were part of the Tasmanian Forests and Forest Products Network (TFFPN) tent, which allowed us to connect with the wonderful Tasmanian forest and wood product industries - we had lots of fun with you all!

Thank you to everyone who visited our booth to learn more about AFWI. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all and were thrilled to see our beautiful tree adorned with vibrant leaves by the end of the event. 🍂

We can't wait to get out and meet more industry stakeholders across Australia very soon. 

Strategy day 

A huge thank you to all our industry partners who participated in our recent strategy workshops! 

In late March, we organised Research Strategy workshops with members from each of the four AFPA chambers.

The outputs from these workshops were then incorporated into the Strategy Document. Additionally, we held an AFWI Board strategy workshop in early May, which included members of the industry. This workshop further refined the strategy document.

The strategy document will remain a live document and will be progressively refined in response to the industry's needs for research and innovation.
