There are still two more SASTA Conferences to go this year; registration is open for the Early Career Teachers Conference, which will be held on Monday 27 September and the call for workshops is currently open for the STEM Conference, which will be held on Friday 26 November. Check out our 2021 National Science Week round-up from SA Schools on the SASTA Blog - Airdale Primary School, Gleeson College, Hope Christian College, Roma Mitchell Secondary School. If you would like to contribute a National Science Week article please let us know! Don't forget to register! The theme of the conference is 'Setting up for Success' The aim of the conference is for our early career teachers to walk away equipped with the resources and best practice strategies for building their confidence and capabilities. For Stage 2 TeachersPlanning for Stage 2 Psychology 2022This session will provide an introduction to the new subject outline for Stage 2 Psychology covering content, resources, assessment and SACE requirements. Full program and details available here. Calling all science leaders and budding leaders! This session is intended for people who are current science department leaders or aspire to be one! Come along and network with other like-minded individuals whilst learning some new skills which might help you either in your current role, in the future or to further enhance the learning and teaching at your school. Visit the website to view the full program. Call for workshops open! How does STEM help us battle threats to our world? Many of the problems we face in our world today will not be solved by today’s adults, but by the students in our classrooms. Whether it is inventing a better way to distribute clean water, repopulate endangered species, or traveling and colonizing Mars; our students will be the ones leading the way. The workshop presentations aim to cover a range of the content and pedagogies of the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics, Science, Design & Technology, and ICT. Find out more and submit a workshop here. For your classroomRiAus Education - STEM PacksThe STEM Careers Packs aim to make students aware of the wide variety of STEM careers. They help students understand the importance of scientific knowledge, how science influences society, and how society influences science (i.e. Science as a Human Endeavour). These are a FREE resource. Register on the website just using your email address and start downloading these jam packed classroom resources! All tasks in these pack are mapped to Science as a Human Endeavour as well as the Core Capabilities from the Australian National Curriculum. Mission to Mars at Hamilton Space SchoolMission to Mars is a full-day, scenario-based program, taking place at the Mike Roach Space Education Centre at Hamilton Secondary College in Adelaide. Students work in teams and use problem-solving skills to successfully complete a geological survey on the surface of Mars. Participants act as astronauts, mission controllers and research scientists in an environment that simulates real-life space explorations. By necessity, faculties of science are engaged in large-scale experimentation with online delivery, in the process discovering what works well and what doesn’t. As we emerge from this highly disruptive experience, how will we reshape science education in a way that it is sustainable and meaningful for a complex world facing numerous challenges? Further details including keynote speakers, registration are available on the ACSME website.
