Kennedy Parent's Connect - 20 June 2019 No Images? Click here Dear Parents & Friends, Every time I sit down to write our Parents Connect newsletter I cannot believe how quickly I am here typing again. Not that this is a bad thing – I enjoy writing, however, it comes around again so soon and I have to think very hard of all that has happened in the life of the College and whether the events were this term or last. I think we can all take a sigh of relief that the exams are over and that school holidays are only two and a half weeks away. But before the holidays there are still many events on the College calendar which we as parents can support and be a part of. See below for major events coming up. There are a couple of things I would also like to highlight in this issue of our newsletter so that parents are well informed about our community. Concerns or Grievances to ExpressFirstly, we as a Committee understand that parents from time to time may have concerns or grievances that they would like to express – as parents we always want the best for our children and want to make sure that they are treated fairly in all aspects of their lives. If at any time you have a concern or want to discuss anything that is of a grievance, the College would love to hear from you. However, there is a process to do this and the College would like to urge any parent or guardian to email or phone the College directly. Publishing grievances on social media or commenting on Google reviews
does not help either party. The College respects our parents and have people to support and address any concern you may have. The following email address is available should you need it: feedback@kennedy.wa.edu.au Community Open DayPlanning and preparation for our Open Day is well underway and we thank those who have come on board our Open Day Committee. However, we do need some more help with stall co-ordinators and our Jamming with the P&F. Our next meeting is on Wednesday 26 June at 5.00pm in the Boardroom. Jamming with the P&F is an awesome event where our Beedawong Cafeteria is a buzz with ten or more Thermomixes making jams and chutneys to sell at Open Day. We need a coordinator for the event that has Thermomix experience and willing to oversee a group of people making all the delicacies. All recipes are provided and the ingredients are donated before the event. If this sounds like something you are willing and able to do please email a reply to the P&F address. We will then let you know more of what is involved with the role. We have had such an amazing response to our request for Food Trucks for our Open Day that we posted on our Facebook page recently. Thank you to all those who have let us know about their own business or know of someone who could help. The Open Day committee will put forward these responses to the College at our meeting next Wednesday and will decide what combination of foods we will have. Supporting Local Businesses - Clothing AlterationSupporting local businesses within our College community is something we would like to continue to do throughout the year and recently we have been approached by a clothing alteration company. Clothing Alterations is located at 331 Canning Highway, Palmyra and specializes in school uniform alterations and they are offering 10% on any Kennedy Baptist College’s alteration orders as a donation back to the College. If you are needing any alterations why not give them a go and support a local business at the same time. Well, that is just about all from us at the P&F. We hope you can join us at our meeting on Wednesday to help with Open Day preparation and planning. I pray that the upcoming holidays will be a time for rest and relaxation. Deborah Warwick Upcoming Events Please see the College calendar for other College related events. How will we keep you connected?
