Time Is Running Out!

Have you Registered yet for our super fun 5K Obstacle Race to support AFAC?

The race is in less than a month -- on May 9th -- and after this week we'll open registration up to the general public!

Remember we can only accept 25 teams so please don't delay: Register today!

No Running Involved!

We count on lots of volunteers to make our annual obstacle race a success and 100% of our proceeds go directly to AFAC.

Can't run this year? Want to give back to your community or earn service hours?

Please consider donating a few hours of your time on Saturday morning, May 9th.

Whether it's handing out packets or helping and encouraging runners along the trail, we need your help!

Please contact us today to lend a hand. Thanks!

One Healthier BbGer!

Congratulations to Jerrianne O. (front row on right) who worked hard during our recent Total Wellness Challenge to significantly improve her health.

"Finally got in to see my doctor, who mentioned my noted drop in triglycerides which went from 116 (end of 2013) to 55," she reports. "The triglyceride effect dropped total cholesterol from 225 to 181."

Jerrianne shared how she achieved her numbers, which included these dietary changes:

1. Cut added and refined sugar - for the sugar point!
2. Reduced refined carbs - for the white flour point!
3. Eliminated alcohol - for the no booze point!
4. Ate more omega-3 fatty acids - for the fish oil/chia, lean protein and leafy green veggie points!
5. Consumed mostly plant-based foods - for the leafy greens and veggie points!
6. Added more fiber - for the fruit point!
7. Monitored fat intake - for the no processed foods point!

Good work Jerrianne -- we're proud of you and excited about your much improved health!

Make Your Own Mango Salsa

Take a little time to prepare your own salsa and you won't believe the difference! I use this recipe often with red snapper (or other fish). The Giant in McLean usually has delicious wild, frozen red snapper.

Ingredients:

1 mango, peeled and roughly chopped
1/4 cup diced red onion
1 large tomato, seeded and chopped
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon olive oil
Juice of 1 lime
Sea salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, cover and let sit for at least 30 minutes. Spoon over cooked fish and enjoy!

Save The Dates

Our next Total Wellness Challenge begins May 18th

The BbG annual Fitness Yankee Swap is Thursday, June 11th.

Feeling grateful for the return of warm weather. As always, thanks for exercising with BbG!
