These included:
Lorna Carson Webinars for line managers of apprentices on the Chartered Manager Degree ApprenticeshipAs an employer we want to support the positive impact apprenticeships have on CU staff. As part of programme enhancement we would like to support line managers of apprentices directly. To support programme integration, we are introducing a webinar to encompass line manager awareness and understanding. These are taking place on 3rd July or on 30th July. The webinars will feature principles of what Apprenticeships are, how they are structured and the assessment components of the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship:
More Webinars will follow with other Apprenticeship areas. Sinead Mullarky EEC Assessment Development WorkshopsDuring June and July the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing undertook a series of workshops focusing on enhancing processes around student feedback and moderation. Colleagues from El-Sewedy Education also joined the faculty course teams to share experiences and practice. The workshops - designed and delivered by the AcDev team - were highly practical to enable academics to share best practice and consider course of action for their own areas by considering innovative practice through the use of audio capture, and rubrics, generic and tailored feedback. The key was to enable manageable workload for academics whilst providing valuable feedback to the students so that they can improve assessment design that considers how to feedback is fundamental. During discussions in the course teams, colleagues strategised what the feedback and assessment loading looked like from a student experience perspective. It was quickly realised that all students were getting lots of feedback but sometimes the learning feedback was not recognised by students and thus not reflected when it came to PTES, NSS, MEQ etc. Therefore, the teams worked towards ensuring good feedback that was easily accessible and recognisable in all its formats. My name is Simon Parr and I have been working as a Learning Designer with Coventry University Online since May 2018. Prior to that, I worked as a Digital Media and E-Learning Developer at Oxford Brookes University and I have also worked as a secondary school teacher. When did you get your HEA recognition? I got confirmation of my Associate Fellowship (AFHEA) on May 17th 2019. Why is this important for you? It is important to me to feel part of a community of HEA practitioners from whom I can keep abreast of best practice in the sector. I also wanted to make sure that the work I am doing is aligning with widely recognised standards and I found it a highly worthwhile experience. |
