Scotland + Venice: The Scottish TourFrom 27 June 2019 Charlotte Prodger's new single channel video work SaF05 will tour cinemas across Scotland's west coast, Highlands and Islands. This work was commissioned by the Scotland + Venice partnership for the 58th International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia and the presentation was curated by Linsey Young with Cove Park. Taking place at the same time as the exhibition in Venice,
SaF05 will screen at seven cinemas and art centres from 27 June to 21 November 2019. This new approach means Scotland + Venice will reach audiences that would not otherwise have the opportunity to see the work. The Scottish Tour is supported by Art Fund, Screen Scotland and Outset Scotland and the participating venues are: The Tower Digital Arts Centre, Helensburgh; Glasgow Film Theatre, Campbeltown Picture House; Aros Community Cultural Centre, Skye; An Lanntair, Isle of Lewis; Mareel, Shetland Arts Centre and Belmont Filmhouse, Aberdeen. Tickets for all screenings are free and bookable via the cinemas themselves. The tickets for The Tower in Helensburgh will be available from 12 June and those for the Glasgow Film Theatre will be available from 14 June 2019; those for subsequent screenings will be released one month in advance of each event date. European Residency Programme
Literarisches Colloquium BerlinOn 29 March we announced the eight project partners working with Cove Park on our new European Residency Programme, all leading arts organisations committed to maintaining and developing cultural exchange between Scotland and European nations. Over the coming months we will feature each partner and provide an overview of their work and current projects. This month we are pleased to profile Literarisches Colloquium Berlin (LCB). The LCB is an international residency centre offering accommodation in conjunction with a wide range of fellowship programmes for
writers and translators from Germany and abroad. As part of its outward-facing programmes, the LCB initiates regular travel projects and exchanges. In collaboration with the Robert Bosch Foundation, the LCB runs the ‘Cross-Border Programme’ (‘Grenzgängerprogramm’) and helps to fund international research trips for writers, filmmakers and photographers working on topical social issues and trends. Translation funding plays a particularly important role at the LCB. The Berlin Translators’ Workshop, the International Translators’ Conference and Translators’ Day all have a regular place in the events calendar. The German Translators’ Fund, housed at the LCB, has been offering translators fellowships and workshops for more than twenty years through its TOLEDO programme. We are delighted to have
this opportunity to work with LCB and look forward to future collaborations. Cove Park's European Residency Programme is supported by British Council Scotland and Creative Scotland.
