Reflection

Today is Ash Wednesday. Ashes are what remain after a fire has gone out. They are a symbol for us—of death and of grief. Many Christians today receive a cross of ashes on their foreheads. This cross of ashes signifies that we are blemished; we are not perfect; that a fire has gone out in us too and needs to be rekindled. This cross of ashes signifies that we are ready to change, and to make efforts to set out lives firmly on the way of Christ.

Greg's Message

Hello Parents and Friends of St. Anne’s
Whilst the weather was challenging, it didn’t prevent us from having a fabulous parish picnic last Sunday.
A massive crowd enjoyed the food, drinks, music, face painting and rides. Once again the parish received tremendous support from our parents. To the many parents who assisted on the day - thank you! Special thanks to Sam Lovrich and Julie Biasotto; these ladies planning and attention to detail ensured a successful event. Another great performance by our Glee Club; well done girls, boys and our Glee Club leaders Bron Seedeen and Helen Wentworth. Finally, the generosity of Fr. John is much appreciated by all who attended.

Condolences
Our condolences to the Dunne familiy on the passing of their Grandmother Gillian.

Open Days
Our “Open Days” are on Wednesday March 20th, Thursday, March 21st and Tuesday March 26th from 9:30am - 1pm.

It is important to note that tours and talks are not restricted to these three days. I have already undertaken a number of tours.

Ash Wednesday
This morning we had a whole school mass for Ash Wednesday. The children all received ashes and were beautifully behaved and our readers read well.

Lent invites us to turn our minds and hearts back to the God of mercy. Each classroom has a Project Compassion box on their prayer table. Each year the catholic churches commit to supporting the great work that Caritas does for giving international aid and development to underprivileged communities overseas. Please help to support this great venture by supporting your child when they ask to donate some money into the box on the prayer tables.

Parent Reconciliation Faith Night
Thank you to the very few school families that supported the Reconciliation Faith Night last Thursday. These nights are informative and help you to know how to support your child with whatever sacrament they are receiving. There is an expectation that they be attended by parents if their child is receiving a sacrament. They also provide you with information that you need to know for the day/night of the sacrament being received.
There is a handout for those parents who did not attend waiting for you at the office. Please collect it as soon as possible.
