Download the resources from here. Unloc Enterprise ChallengeThis challenge is an online entrepreneurship competition open to young people aged 16-25 with fresh, new and innovative technology-led business ideas. First prize includes £10,000 worth of business funding and a mentorship. Deadline for entries is 15th November. Talk the Talk provide workshops to improve the communication skills of students, all linked to good communication in the workplace. The resources section can be used free of charge and has some great ideas for teachers. Workshops cost £300 per day for up to 30 students. Study Higher Right Fit ResourcesExcellent for Gatsby Benchmark 4, these 1-minute videos and 8-page subject guides explore the ‘right fit’ for students. The resources look at HE but also explore potential roles and alternative routes into careers in various sectors. Downloadable guides are available after you click on each subject video link. Imagine-XAnother great Benchmark 4 resource from one of our Enterprise Adviser companies. Free downloadable lesson plans and classroom resources with links to Science and Design subject areas. Make £5 GrowMany of you will be familiar with the Fiver and Tenner programmes run by Young Enterprise. A similar enterprise activity is available from Virgin Money but, unlike the Young Enterprise programmes, can be run at any time of year. Aimed at children aged 9 to 11, it can be adapted for older students. BBC TeachThe BBC has added a series of short films to the Teach section of their website, profiling a diverse range of schools and careers practitioners from across the UK. They explore different approaches to careers support and examine what is working for them. Mandy Green and Jon Dawe, from Bedford Academy, are featured in the “careers needs of a diverse catchment area” film and Dorrie Mutch, from Slated Row School, is featured in the “Delivering careers to students with additional needs” film. Longitude Explorer PrizeThis free competition is open to teams of 11-16-year-olds with ideas for tech that will help improve the world around them. Participants are required to submit ideas that use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address one of four challenges. The closing date is the 29th of November. Careers Leader ResearchThis presentation focuses in on the main findings for Headteachers in the Careers Leader Research. It can be used to encourage an improved Careers Strategy. Careers Leaders or their Enterprise Coordinators can deliver this to SLT or Governors. Indicators of successful transitionsEducation and Employers has produced a report that pulls together research indicators that can help identify and prioritise pupils who require greater levels of careers provision. This webpage includes a questionnaire and scoring system that will help target pupils in need of further careers interventions. Work Experience GuideThe British Youth Council has produced a comprehensive guide for Small and Medium Enterprises on providing quality work experience placements for students. This might be useful for Careers Leaders when discussing work experience with local employers. PwC Females of the FutureTaking place on Monday 25th November, 10am-4pm, at their office in Birmingham, this event is designed to help inspire and support students to navigate their potential career opportunities with PwC.
