IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON MENTAL HEALTH

WEBINAR – THURSDAY 22 OCTOBER 2020

 

AMSRO continues to support our members through the pandemic. October is Mental Health Month* and AMSRO is pleased to present this special, one-hour free webinar which addresses the unique psychosocial risks associated with COVID-19.

In association with specialist psychological consultancy Communicorp and presented by General Manager and Principal Psychologist, Mark Oostergo, this webinar is aimed exclusively at leaders and senior managers.

Mark will explore how we, as humans, react to uncertainty and the dangers associated with physical isolation and remote working.  The webinar will also cover practical strategies for leaders to:

  • monitor and support their mental health
  • maintain a social connection during physical isolation
  • cope with change
  • sit with fear and uncertainty.

There will be time for participants to ask direct questions and gain practical, personal experience and helpful tips.

MARK OOSTERGO

General Manager, Principal Psychologist, Communicorp

Mark Oostergo began his career in the Australian Army as a Psychology Officer. He concluded his decade-long career in the military as the commander of a health centre with over one hundred staff across multiple allied health professions. He was awarded an Australian Defence Force Gold Commendation for his motivational and supportive leadership in this role.

Mark works with high performing individuals and teams in healthcare, elite sports, the corporate sector, police and emergency services, and large government departments.  

Mark takes a practical and applied approach to psychology and communicates it in a way that is easily accessible. He has a passion for delivering tailored workplace interventions to promote positive mental health to create a flourishing work environment.

October is Mental Health Month *This awareness month encourages all of us to think about our mental health and wellbeing, regardless of whether we may have a lived experience of mental illness or not. This month also gives us the opportunity to understand the importance of mental health in our everyday lives and encourages help-seeking behaviours when needed.
