AnnouncementsEngaging Finale to Law Society's Mock Trial Competition'Wesley Gold', winners of the 2019 Mock Trial Competition On Wednesday, 23 October the season’s two undefeated teams competed in the Law Society's Mock Trial Competition Grand Final in Court 1 of the Supreme Court in Stirling Gardens. The Hon Justice Robert Mazza judged the trial with grace, warmth and humour. Thanks to gentle guidance from His Honour, the school students were still learning up until the final moment of the season. The winning team was Wesley Gold from Wesley College, coached by Claire Rossi and Rein Squires. Their opponents, the Carey Counsellors from Carey Baptist College, a team of Year 10 students, attempted to prosecute a defendant who was alleged to have unlawfully used a restricted access computer system at a university. The night was the culmination of a fantastic season of the Law Society's Mock Trial Competition. 1,080 school students participated in 2019, with 180 trials were held. 681 students achieved accreditation towards their high school graduation through their participation. In all, 112 teams from 56 schools took part in the Competition. Thank you to the 91 volunteer lawyers who acted as judges and the 57 legal practitioners and law students who coached students at participating schools. 2020 Law Society Diary and Directory – Now AvailableThe Law Society's 2020 Diary and Directory is now in stock and available to order.
