Together we CAN stop the Badger Cull - please sign this petition!

Yesterday the High Court announced that the Badger Cull in England is lawful and can go ahead. This was a major defeat for all of the wildlife charities that have been pinning their hopes on the pointless cull being deemed unlawful.

We now have just weeks to act. The cull will start imminently.

You can help stop this - only the public can really stop the killing of an estimated 130,000 badgers!

Our friend and wildlife colleague Brian May, Wildlife Campaigner and Queen rock-star has launched an e-Govt Petition. If we can help him get 100,000 signatures then the government the e-petition is eligible to be debated in the House of Commons. Please sign - it takes just a minute, and then when you have signed, please forward this email to your family and friends, share it on facebook and spread the word. Working with Brian May to Stop the Cull

At this meeting we discussed a variety of plans should the Badger Trust's legal challenge fail initially and at appeal, including targeting large land owners, such as the National Trust to take a stand on banning culling on their land.

Meeting at the National Trust with Brian May to Discuss Cull

Dominic Dyer, Project Manager at Care for the Wild, along with Brian May and a small selection of key charities, recently met with senior figures from the National Trust to discuss their stance on badger culling on their land.

We're aiming to attend their AGM in early November and make their nature-loving members aware that at present they will be allowing culling on tenanted National Trust land.

Badger Cull - The Key Facts

Please protect me!

Up to 130,000 badgers could be killed by the cull

Best estimates suggest that over nine years TB in cattle will be reduced as a result of this mass killing by around only 15% - so a massive 85% of cattle will be unaffected

The initial pilot cull will last around 6 weeks

70% of badgers in the cull zones are authorised to be killed

It is likely many badgers will be shot but not killed - instead dying a slow and painful death

Reports suggest that the cull could wipe out entire colonies of badgers accidentally - wiping them out from local areas

This effects everyone - the pilot cull zones are in the South West, but they could soon spread across the country

Scientific data proves this cull is pointless

Please don't let these badgers die in vain - please sign the petition here.

Care for the Wild will continue to work to stop this cull. We will not rest until the government sees sense. You can learn more about badgers and the cull here.
