Successful Week of MAP Testing - Important Information Included on TestingNow it is Time to CelebrateHeather Townsend, Academic Coordinator MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing is complete! There is a sigh of relief from students and teachers. All the students persevered and did their best, despite a few technical difficulties along the way. Most students take four tests: Reading, Language Usage, Mathematics, and newly added Science. Students ages 5-7 do not take the science test, and ages 5-6 take only reading and mathematics. The science test is based on the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). These standards have been incorporated into QSI's new science curriculum adoption starting this year as well as our science accreditation objective. MAP scores will be shared with you during Parent Teacher Conferences on October 19. Remember, MAP testing is not a high stakes test! It is an assessment tool that gives just a glimpse into each child’s academic profile. Most importantly, it is a useful tool in helping teachers guide instruction for each child. When students take the test at the end of the year, we are looking for growth, not top scores. Finally, to celebrate all the persistence and perseverance of getting through each test, the student council has organized a "Spirit Week" for October 1-5, as well as a movie night on Friday the 5th. Themes for Spirit Week: Monday: School Colors Tuesday: Dress as your favorite book character Wednesday: Crazy day Thursday: Dress like the environment: tree, animal, in recycled clothing Friday: Pajama day Adult BadmintonAdult Badminton Club: every Wednesday, 7:30 - 9:30. Please contact Mrs. Freeman at +7 705 124 31 31. This is a social game, so all levels including complete beginners are welcome. OPEN GYMEach Saturday during the year, from 1 PM to 3 PM, our gym is open to your family for your use. Non-QSI families will need to sign a release form before using the facilities.
