The Construction Students Association's 2015 Industry Night will be held in the MSD Atrium and feature an eclectic mix of industry leaders, including a range of high profile builders, quantity surveyors, consultants, developers and industry bodies.

Catering to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, the evening will present an incredible opportunity to connect with the best in the business in a relaxed, casual environment.

The Environments and Design Student Centre is seeking Bachelor of Environments Students to support our mid-year intake of new students as they navigate through the first few weeks of semester at university.

Responsibilities
The program launches with a welcome lunch on Friday 24 July (1.00pm - 2.00pm). Attendance is required for participation in the Peer Mentoring Program.

After the welcome event, mentors will arrange meetings with their assigned commencing students. Coffee vouchers will be provided for this purpose.

Places Victoria Intern Program

Places Victoria’s Intern Program is aimed at third year students with a particular interest in property development. The 12 month internship will commence in February 2016 and students will be engaged for two to three days per week with flexibility to balance academic priorities.

The Intern Program is looking for highly motivated students with a strong track record of academic performance and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Victoria University and Maribyrnong City Council have embarked on a journey to create Footscray as a university town. This panel discussion centres on how design for inclusion, creativity, education and technological innovation are core to the concept of a University Town, and how this model contributes to the vision for a smart and creative Melbourne in 2050.

Chaired by Professor Peter Dawkins (Vice-Chancellor, Victoria University) and Councillor Nam Quach, Mayor, City of Maribyrnong. Young Bird Plan Design Competition - China

Registration deadline: 1 August 2015 (Beijing time)

The Young Bird Plan Design Competition is open to all Chinese-speaking students or practitioners under 33 years old who are majoring in engineering, design, art or related fields.

Contestants are invited to design a series of leisure and cultural service facilities along the first-phase coastal life shoreline at the Prince Bay, Shekou, Shenzhen. Applicants can enter individually or in pairs.

The MSD Fabrication Workshop is hiring!

The MSD Fabrication Workshop (Fabworks) is a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary space for making with technology that aims to create a hands-on and inspiring environment encouraging experimentation with technology, materials and processes of making.

Fabworks operates a range of digital fabrication equipment (Laser cutter, CNC router, 3D Printers) where FabLab Technicians operate machinery and process fabrication jobs. The workshop also operates a range of primarily carpentry fabrication equipment where Machine Workshop Technicians can supervise and engage with students on their woodworking projects.

Fabworks is currently hiring FabLab Technicians and Machine Workshop Technicians.

Multiplicity: the cinematic city by John Wardle Architects with writer and filmmaker Stefano Boscutti

The city as a laboratory drives this new and exciting Environments subject that investigates scientific, design, engineering and social perspectives to ask how Melbourne can be modelled as the world’s most liveable city.

Through undertaking an in depth study of the places and event spaces of dynamic Melbourne you will research, experiment and prepare a future scenario for this city under transformation.

During the subject you will be introduced to a range of digital and analogue tools that will assist in the mapping and documentation of the city leading to future strategies and/or designs.
