2024 Panther Leadership Summit Registration

On Saturday, February 3, 2024, the Panther Leadership Summit (PLS) for graduate and undergraduate students will be held on the University of Pittsburgh main campus. The half-day conference will center around discourse and dialogue through leadership and position student participants to connect with other leaders across campus and in the greater Pittsburgh community.

Student participants will learn about a variety of critical leadership development-based topics and methods through which they can become more dynamic, resilient, and reflective leaders which in turn guides them to make an impact in the community. Undergraduates can earn 50 OCC points in the Leadership category.

Location: William Pitt Union
Time: 9:15am-1:20pm

Summer Research Opportunity

On behalf of the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute (FMHI) at USF, I would like to inform you of a potential research opportunity to share with your students. FMHI is inviting undergraduate students interested in substance use and co-occurring disorders to apply for a highly selective Summer Research Institute (SRI) funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). This program is designed for students interested in building their research skills within the context of substance use and co-occurring disorders to prepare for a Senior Thesis and/or graduate school. The SRI@FMHI is an 11-week in-person program taking place from May 23, 2024, to August 1, 2024. 

The application deadline is March 10, 2024, and students should be notified of acceptance by March 18, 2023.  Please pass this information along to students in your department who may be interested in this opportunity.

Undergraduate Volunteer Research Opportunity

Are you interested in getting involved in psychology/neuroscience research? The CHAMP lab (Cultivating Healthy Aging and Movement for all People; https://www.champ-lab-pitt.com/) at Pitt is looking for undergraduate research volunteers to assist with research projects related to health and wellness factors to prevent Alzheimer's disease.

Pitt Public Health Undergraduate Scholars Program

Scholars Program (PHUSP). Funded by the Centers for Disease Control

18TH Annual ACC Meeting of the Minds Research Conference

Student applications to participate in the 18TH Annual ACC Meeting of the Minds Research Conference are due Thursday, January 25, 2024.

The 18th annual Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Meeting of the Minds Conference will be hosted by the University of Notre Dame from April 5-7.  Pitt is looking for five outstanding undergraduate researchers to attend this conference and represent the University. These students will present their research as either a ten-minute oral presentation or a poster format.

Undergraduate students at all ACC universities are involved in numerous projects, which provide unique contributions to research and creativity in a variety of fields. The annual ACC Meeting of the Minds conference has become an opportunity for universities in the ACC to highlight the diversity of research being conducted by undergraduates and for students to share their work with peers across the ACC.

Full-time Research Specialist

The University of Pittsburgh’s Translational Neuroscience and Neuroimaging Lab (TNN Lab) is seeking applicants for a full-time Research Specialist position. The TNN lab seeks to understand individual differences in mechanisms of treatment response in patients with depression.

Candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology, or related research field. A minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.

Research Assistant Position, Yale University

Candidates are being considered for a research assistant position to support the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study (https://abcdstudy.org/; ABCD) Yale site. The ABCD Study focuses on a cohort of nearly 12,000 participants who were 9 to 10 years old at baseline and are currently being followed for 10 years. Youths and their families provide rich details about their environmental experiences and undergo extensive phenotypic, cognitive, genetic, emotional, health, and neuroimaging assessments. The ABCD Study site at Yale is located within the Department of Psychology (http://psychology.yale.edu/) at Yale University and works with over 600 families per year.

Clinical Researcher, University of Houston

Provides expertise in support of physical or mental health research projects. Typically works out of a clinic or otherhealth care facility and may travel to homes, schools or residential facilities to collect data. Performs advancedtesting procedures, data collection, and analysis. Typically works directly with human subjects. Ensuresexperiments are performed according to specifications. May make recommendations to changes in procedure,processes, or experimental design. May prepare and/or edit research papers, grant proposals and reports. Duties:Work is varied and somewhat difficult. May assist in advanced functions as part of training. Supervision: Receivesdirect supervision but is expected to learn how to select from a variety of standard procedures to complete tasks.

Clinical Research Assistant Position The Ohio State University

The Tso Lab at The Ohio State University Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health (https://u.osu.edu/ivytsolab/) is seeking 2-3 full-time clinical research assistants to work on a new NIMH-funded study investigating social cognition in psychosis spectrum disorders using EEG and other ongoing research studies. The lab uses multimethods, including psychophysics, eye tracking, multimodal fMRI, EEG, neuromodulation (TMS, tACS), and computational modeling to investigate the cognitive and neural bases of social processes affected in psychosis and bipolar disorder and related psychopathology. The start date is flexible, but you should anticipate starting sometime between April and June of 2024.
