As a reminder, we strongly encourage you to take annual leave and use the time to relax and refresh after this exhausting year. If you wish to continue working on your studies during the closedown period, we suggest you focus on writing or desktop analyses where your supervisor’s direct input is not required. In case you don’t have suitable working from home arrangements, Horace Lamb 422 can be used by HDRs as a secure write-up area, and computers will be available in Barr Smith South 538. For more information, please visit our comprehensive FAQs which we continue to update regularly. For our international students who are not able to go home during the summer holidays, the University has developed an International Student Summer Program, featuring a range of social events, information sessions, professional development, excursions and activities throughout December and January. Open to all international UofA students, this program is free, however for most events registration is essential. As registrations open in a staged approach, you can sign up for notifications. Please remain vigilant to contain the spread of COVID-19. Stay safe and take care. Doreen Krumbiegel Tip of the Month Students applying for external scholarship opportunities should first check the AGC scholarships database for any internal closing dates. Many external scholarships require endorsement by the AGC prior to submission - to ensure that AGC staff have enough time to assess and endorse your application, make sure you submit by the internal closing date! Postgraduate Scholarship OpportunitiesThe Adelaide Graduate Centre maintains a searchable database of available scholarship opportunities (both full scholarships and supplementary scholarships), funded by both the University of Adelaide and external funding bodies. While the majority of available scholarships are awarded as part of the standard admission and scholarship rounds for domestic and international students, some are awarded at different times throughout the year, and may have a separate application process. Visit the Postgraduate Scholarships website regularly for up to date information on current scholarship opportunities. Playford Trust PhD Supplementary Scholarship Each year, the Playford Trust offers two supplementary PhD scholarships for high-achieving students planning to carry out research in its priority areas. These are intended to supplement an existing Australian Government Research Training Program Stipend Scholarship (RTPS) or similar institutional PhD stipend scholarship. To be eligible students must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident currently living in South Australia, who is commencing their research in 2021 in one of the following priority areas:

Events and Online Training Publishing for early career researchers (Wiley), and Springer Nature author symposium The University Library, with Wiley and Springer Nature, presents two online tutorials to help you understand academic publishing and how to get published. Wiley: Publishing for early career researchers Springer Nature Online Author Symposium iCaRST Program UpdateProgram 2, 2020 commenced at the end of July with quite a different feel to it. There was only one face to face class plus two online individual programs running. The face to face group worked well together, despite being from a diverse range of faculties. Many good discussions were had and many excellent oral presentations were given. The lecture and seminar sessions ended at the end of October. Since then, students have been working on their Research Proposal Drafts. As each student has a different CCSP date, consultation appointments and completions occur over a period of several months. The current program will end for all students in December. Finally, we would like to say a big farewell to all our current and past students (this includes IBPR) as iCaRST will no longer be running after December.
