Ft. Bend Infrastructure Summit Recap

The Bowen Team was one of the sponsors of the 2013 Ft. Bend Infrastructure Summit, as Ft. Bend leaders shared new developments in master planning in the areas of transportation, water forecasts and construction. “When you talk about Ft. Bend County, you’re talking about one of the fastest growing parts of the fastest growing big city in the country,” reported keynote speaker, the “Texas Economist” Dr. Ray Perryman, president of The Perryman Group. “The incredible popularity and growth in this area is because you have created a very attractive place for high-income, well-educated folks to live. When you have a lot of resources and fewer issues than other places, that puts you in a very good position.”

  • When the Grand Parkway is complete, Houston will be the only city in America with three complete freeway loops.
  • Texas has added 1,200 people a day to the population for the last 16 years, and has a much higher share (40%) of new investment than other states.
  • The Houston area is the epicenter of energy in North America.
  • The Hwy 36A Coalition is working on ways to bypass Houston congestion and create a regional corridor to promote free flowing transportation options.
  • Regional leaders have been planning for every square foot of Ft. Bend’s water resources for decades, and are moving toward the creation of a Ft. Bend Water Authority to keep Ft. Bend well positioned for future growth.
  • To relieve stress on the area’s transportation infrastructure, plans are in process for expanding Fulshear Parkway to comply with carefully developed standards for landscaping and collaborative development.
