This is an important addition to the Great Southern region as it now offers a locally accessible and predominately bulk-billed nuclear medicine service to our regional community. Albany Nuclear Imaging have installed a SPECT/CT scanner which is integrated with the latest equipment from GE healthcare’s diagnostic software platform, capable of co-registering any CT or MRI exam with a nuclear study. This provides precise identification of the underlying structural and metabolic features. Albany Nuclear Imaging is part of TeleMed Health Services, which is an independent, WA owned and operated social enterprise committed to rural health. This new department will represent Australia’s most south-western nuclear medicine department and joins the company’s other sites in Busselton, Geraldton and Kalgoorlie. Attached is the opening letter from TeleMed Director Pete Tually and we have posted the company’s clinical guideline brochure on our website here.
